Use other alts on same account as SIDEKICKS

By Disgustus#5831 September 20, 2017, 03:58:15
Ankama has said that they never do the same thing twice, and with that in mind I think that it's clear the Sidekick system - which they've stated that they do want to bring to Touch, but will have to do carefully because it will be difficult to implement - will not operate identically to what's available on PC. So with what's a clean slate ahead for Touch, here's my suggestion: let players use other alts on the same account as their sidekicks. Here are a few ideas:

1) The number of sidekicks a player can use is directly tied to his or her achievement points. Perhaps one sidekick per every thousand achievement points? These sidekicks can't be used in PvP, and since the players who are most excited for PvP tend to do less PvM, this won't really affect them. It will be the biggest boost to PvM players who enjoy chasing achievement points and completing quests.

2) Sidekicks are equipped with whatever gear the player gave them. This will invigorate the markets and create lots more work for professionals while also encouraging more players to take up challenging professions.

3) Sidekicks provide an additional 100 PP no matter what gear they're wearing and no additional loot rolls.

4) Sidekicks do not gain experience for themselves. The only alt that gains experiences is the alt that's being actively logged by the player. Because additional alts gain experience at x2, x3, and x4 depending on how many higher level alts exist above them, this won't be difficult for players to manage their alts' level progression.

This is a fantastic idea. Doubt it will happen tho.

This absolutely is the best idea I've ever seen.  Ankama needs to keep to their promise of avoiding the mistakes made in Dofus PC and go through with a change like this.

This will also, without a doubt, help decrease the use of emulators.  Emulators are the most popular way for players to multi account, despite the rules against them.  Allowing players to play with a character that they created and trained themselves as opposed to a soulless pre-made sidekick is also a great way to encourage player activity as a whole.  Perhaps the number of spells the character sidekick can cast could be limited as well, if being more like the original sidekicks is what Ankama wants.

Regardless of what Ankama’s policy is on emulators, the reality is they are used all the time. You only have to look at the game’s high level content to see single players running teams of 5 characters to farm Frigost materials and do dungeons. The developers, despite their efforts, clearly don’t have the means to stop this activity. So I really like this idea because it at least levels the playing field for players who follow the rules. I’d love to be able to use all the characters on my account as a team. But I disagree with the restrictions that Disgustus has suggested; I think that if Ankama wants to make it fair then these single account teams should have just as many advantages as the cheaters get. In particular, I’d like to see the characters have just as much loot dropping power as a team of characters run on an emulator, so we can compete on Frigost resource farming. As well as that, let us use our teams in PvP because the emulator users sure as hell use theirs in AvA, perc fights and kolo.

I’m doubtful they’d ever get something like this into the game because it’s such a big change, but if it were to happen anywhere Touch would be the place for it. The more casual, mobile nature of the game means you’re more likely to have shorter play sessions where you might not have time to organise a team with other people. I think Ankama has recognised this with the new lairs. But if you could just pick up and play with your own team, maybe do one room of a dungeon you’ve been working through during your lunch break or something and then stop, I think it would be a great benefit for the game and much fairer for single account players.

I agree. Since the dev team appears to be incapable of stopping the use of emulators without substantially degrading the quality of the game for everybody else, then the only solution is to level the playing field and reward the players who are actually following the rules.

Looks like an amazing idea! I don't agree with the achievement point restriction though. I would go with max 1 side kick active at any moment. The game does provide social playing still, and this part of the game will take a heavy hit if we give players all the means to solo everything.

I will definitely help try to get some attention to this idea in the forums again!

Dont be too hasty to call all multi accounters cheaters.  I play 3 or 4 regularly and its perfectly legal under the tos.  I have several android devices at my disposal, mostly due to upgrading my phone and keeping my old ones.

I'd use this - especially now additional character slots allowing upto 32 on a single account. With touch currently having 15 of the classes, that's really rather versatile.
