Does element maging give sink?

Can’t find this answer anywhere online. 

I’ve just maged my archetypal bow with water damage and lost a ton of stats in the process. When the stats disappeared the text log said nothing about adding sink to the item though. Is sink not added in this process, only in rune maging? Or is this a text bug and I can assume I gained sink for all the lost stats?
